This is reminiscent of the so called money pit on Oak Island in Halifax, Canada. The world watches and waits to see if anything will ever come of it.

That's exactly what I was referring to. I started watching it, but after a few episodes I realized that this is something they will drag out ad nauseam. Still, I'm sure that many people love to spend an hour of their life watching an episode that ends with the crew losing equipment in the pit, unearthing "a significant piece of wood" or a similar, anticlimactic event. However, I would like to watch the last episode whenever it airs... I hope they have History Channel at the nursing home.

And the obvious thing is, since they film months in advance, any discovery would already be all over the news. It would be impossible to keep it quiet. And since there is no news of a discovery, what can we actually look forward to?

I remember watching that too Ed, I was sitting on the edge of my seat expecting them to make a big find and all they found was dust and cobwebs. Sure made Geraldo Rivera look just a little foolish.

John Dillinger's tommy gun is housed/displayed at the Tucson Police Dept. It is a famous one also.

I'm wondering how that works... Those Oak Island boys must have signed a contract saying that they can't make their finds public other than through the show. Would be rather anticlimactic if you heard about the big find (if there will ever be one) on CNN long before you saw it on the show.

Yes, but with all the cast, crew, contractors, curious hangers-on, etc. there is NO way that could be kept under wraps for long. A find would be monumental. How much would they have to pay each participant for a couple of months of silence?

You are correct....ONE of his Tommy guns. John liked them a lot, as do I, but I don't own a group of them!!

Well, I like them too. Got to try one once (in the military service). But I'm not allowed to own one. Private ownership of submachine guns, or even submachine guns look alikes is a around here.
