No need for me to confirm what Ron correctly said; apparently nobody seem to know exactly why that gun is generally called 1906/24
Probably because some modifications were only applied after 1924, like the blueing by immersion also of the internal part of the frame. I've got a 2nd variation in my collection, but I'm looking for a 1st variation now.
