No, star does not affect value much (many other markings would, such as import markings, british markings, etc, none of which this luger has)
I would say the $1400-$1600 is about right - depending on if you are buying or selling. I have seen a star like this on French occupied (post war) and on other guns, it almost seems like the star/asterisk is a universal marking
