Dan, Looks like you have a picture of s/n 7250w mixed in... 3rd in your series above...
The short receiver plus the plugged hole (if that's what it is) would point to a pressure test device that could be used for observing chamber pressure during firing and ejection. The hole appears set back in the special barrel so that it's over the chamber / ogive transition area at the entry to the rifling. Marc
