Tom, the stock lug is the grooved metal boss at the lower back of the Luger grip. This provided a place for attaching a shoulder stock, but the staocks were only supplied with the longer barreled Navy and Artillerly pistols. The lug also served to hold the frame for machining operations during manufacture.
