Mike, thanks for the sn. The municipal police departments in smaller German cities and towns were known generally as Polizeiverwaltungen. In 1925, Neuwied had about 20,000 residents and its police force was a local one. These police did not have any state agency specifying how to mark weapons so, if they marked them at all, it was up to their imaginations. You don't see many of these types of markings.
