I like "bore stores" they are breathable, but silicone impregnated "socks" for a gun (they come in all sizes).

I generally keep the pistol in them and the holster in a drawer.

Yup, just as I thought. Somehow I knew the thought of leaving the gun inside the holster---even with a protective sleeve---was too good to be true.

doesn't mean I don't do it sometimes, but as said above, NOT best practice
