I've hesitated to express an opinion on this as that's all I have, a pure, personal opinion.

I too thought the engraving/carving/whatever well done. I even liked it till we got to the barrel. There the "extra" work on the muzzle end and sight were unnecessary in my eyes. It was garish and distracting, particularly the front sight. It totally ruined the effect for me.

Sorry to be so blunt, but with engraving, it's either I like it or I don't. It's a very personal thing.
