Hi:

I think that Rig grease is a bit of an overkill.

Rig grease will dry out over time and cause moisture to form around it. I had a nice M98/09 Mauser that had its bright metal discolored by Rig grease for this very reason.

Get a small bottle of Break Free (CLP) and liberally apply it. This is what the military has been using for years with great success.

Just my two cents worth.
