Russell, I wondered this too, I think two ways folks look at it;
1. These are okay if used on guns that originally had stocks (you can not use a wood stock on a 4 inch) 2. Only exact replicas may be used on a gun that originally had a stock. There is a listing of what guns can have stocks, so these may not be all of them; artillery's, navies, and the orginal fold out stock like my friend Viggo made...
