Dwight I agree with your assessment of the value. The Sile or Jay Scott grips (both made this variety) are not of any particular value ($25-35) and the rear toggle would not be unnoticeably restorable... it had to be modified in some form to accept the silver-soldered on sight that was made from a real artillery sight... possibly from the same gun. I think this gun may have been one of those with a damaged 8 inch barrel... THe modifications as I can see them from the limited photographs we have available are that the muzzle was cut off, the barrel was recrowned and the rear sight base ground down to the "stepped" appearance that we see, and a commercial rifle front sight base was addes with an appropriately tall front blade.

An interesting shooter... nothing more...IMHO
