Pete, first of all, do not trust your memory - it's a '23 not '26 (There may not even be a '26). Secondly, I am far from being the guy to ask, as I've only been into Lugers for about six months. Having said that, I realize that "Ralph told me it was a '23" may not be the best answer, so I did some quick research. It's S# is 77168, proofed with Nitro and "Germany". Most of the 1923 Lugers are identical to the 1920's. Some '23's have "safe" and "loaded" safety and extractor markings (more valuable). 1923 was the year that DWM reverted to 5 digit serial number. Resumed at approx 73,500 and went to approx 96,000. Pistols in this range are commonly referred to as the Model 1923.
