Some years ago, I took a taxi at night while traveling in a big city in southern China. The charge was about ¥30 (roughly $4 at that time), I paid the driver ¥100 (about $12), and he gave me a ¥50 note back, along with a few smaller bills.
Next morning, I wanted to buy a pack of cigarettes from a nearby small store. I handed that ¥50 note to the cashier, she took it over, looking at it, then returned it back to me, "I don't want this one" ....... I was astonished. A fake? She did not say it's a fake, but she rejected it. Returned back to my room, I compared this note with a few other notes, be honest, I could not see any difference. Shaking it in air, the feeling was same as well. After that, I tried that note at a few places, even including the highway toll station. All of them rejected it. So I carried that note back to home. Even today, I don't know what's wrong with that note, and how could all of them tell it's a fake in a few seconds... If one day, people could replicate grip to the quality like they replicate money, this world will become more complex. At this moment, no worry. |
