My Simson

Hi you all!!!
I recently bought a Simson; it was too cheap not to buy. I’ve had to repair the safety catch and replace the front sight. It’s accurate. It was originally a .30 calibre, but it must have been converted to 9mm Parabellum after the war. You can see marks on the cartridge cases at the .30 calibre shoulder.
New wooden grips fitted, and off to the shooting range to enjoy it.
Serial number 664.
If I can remember how to upload photos, I’ll upload as many as possible.

Any help for uploading photos?

Welcome to the forum! (Shall we presume your name is Anti-Aircraft Artillery, or American Automobile Association?:D)

Look for a "Sticky" in the New Collectors section!

Hello,

I would like to see pictures, if You can't figure out how to upload, send them to me.

Before seeing anything, let me see.

1. Is it an 'a' suffix? There should be a letter on the front of the frame under the serial number.
2. What are the markings on the left, I just shorten them and say, E6 E33 E6 (meaning eagle 6, eagle 33, eagle 6
3. There is no evidence that Simson's were ever made in 30 luger (7.65mm), only 9mm - doesn't mean that they weren't converted after WW2.

This is the Simson chart that is slightly more updated than in Police Lugers.

There are fakes out there, refinished guns and re-arsenalled DWM, Erfurt and Mauser that had Simson toggles. If you have information, I would need serial number, condition, stock lug numbers, proofs and acceptance on the right, if year stamped (and date), police sear or mag safety and any unit or other markings on it.

send information to simsonlugers@verizon.net

Thank you for your comments. I joined the forum in 2008 because of my first Parabellum, but it seems my posts and photos have disappeared…
The bluing on the barrel is slightly different from that on the frame; I suppose it was replaced after the war with another one in .30 Parabellum calibre rechambered to 9mm
What I can make out from the markings is e6 e81 e67 e67
The suffix is an ‘a’

I’ll try to take a better photo of the left side to clarify the markings.
Thanks again

The Simson likes my reloaded ammunition at 25 metres

Edward Tinker 05-31-2026 04:26 AM

This was an East German pistol, used by them for border patrol, policing etc.

Also, it was assigned as a Police Luger before WW2, as seen by the sear safety missing (taken out by the east germans most likely)

44RM 05-31-2026 05:56 AM

Edward, I don’t know what you want to mean with “sear safety missing” sorry, my english come worst as time goes away.
I don’t care where it comes from or whether it’s been restored; it’s not a collector’s item, I know, but I enjoy it at the shooting range!!!!

Thank you for all info given.

@44RM
Police lugers usually had a sear safety installed, which is why your pistol has a hole drilled above the sear bar and a slot cut out of the top of your side plate.

The pistol will work fine without that part installed.
It was created to prevent the gun from firing while the receiver was removed.
