Post Lanyards

I know there is little documentation on lanyards, but I have see there is a portuguese lanyard (guy from Maine) and posted very close is a Portuguese Luger holster and magazine pouch from a guy in Argentina.

Lanyard: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...item=733625607

Holster: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...item=733590066

I see brief descriptions of Portuguese buying lugers? Any experts out there?

How many?

Used by Portugal possessions or also used by the home country?

Years bought?

Is ther documentation on lanyards used in Portugal possessions?

A book that has this info that I don't rememer and can refer to?

Thanks Dwight, like ole Pete, you and others, I have collected a bunch of books and can't remember reading something. Old timers I think, appreciate the pointer to the right book.

Hey Ed,

From one oldtimer to another, drink better whisky!

Having said that, the Portuguese were early and enthusiastic and consistent adherents of the Luger, They started with the '06, and went through about 3 variants of that; then went to the Mauser 1934/06, then went to the 1943 version.

I gotta say, the 1934/06 GNR, with that massive crest inscribed on the chamber and that elegant tapered barrel, along with the wonderful saddle leather holster...well, for my money, its in the top ten for elegance.

My zwei pfennig, after having sold a lovely rig recently.
