One ? for the experts (",)
Was the front sight replaced on all first contract P08 which had the hold open added in 1913 ? And what is the difference between the pre 1913 and post 1913 sights ? Thanks.

The front sight was replaced when hold opens were installed. A replaced sight will bear a small acceptance stamp on the left top of the new sight's base. The new sights are about half a millimeter higher.

George,
Any idea why the front sight would have to be higher? As far as I can tell, there is no change in the operation of the gun except for holding the toggle open. The rear sight doesn't change, and the relationship of the slide to the frame doesn't change? Really curious of the logic behind this sight replacement ![]()

Thanks.
I had been compairing the sights on pics. but could not see any difference, and was not sure if it had been replaced on my 1909. But with this information and closer look I found the acceptance mark on the sight base.
