Is the photo 'mirrored'? The holster appears to be a left hand and the marking on the cap is 'unusual'.

I think that he has his hat on upside-down, for the number is a mirrored and upside-down '20'.

As a pickelhaube collector I can assure you the 70 on the helmet cover is 100% correct. The holster seems to be for a Reichsrevolver or perhaps a captured weapon.

I have too much respect for you to continue spoofing on this photo. You are correct and the assumption on the holster is the most plausible. I stand down to your knowledge.
